Non-Political Me

I’ve been hearing nothing but news about the May 10, 2004 elections all day. So… I’m posting some updates even though I’m really indifferent towards politics in general. Like I said in my previous post, I’m not a registered voter.

There’s an unofficial vote count that declared GMA the winner having 1 million plus votes higher than FPJ. Some groups though are threatening to start EDSA4. They believe that the voting counts have been tampered with. I sympathize with them since it’s a given in the Philippines that there will always be some sort of scam, especially regarding the elections. *sigh* This country is really on a downward scale. One superb example is that Eddie Gil fellow. He’s making such a mockery of our government. And his followers actually declared him the president even though he’s already been disqualified. His acceptance speech still contains his never-ending promise to pay off all the Philippines’ debts. I’ve never even seen his supposedly new helicopter which he keeps mentioning (rather, bragging about) during interviews. He’s even petitioning for a failure of elections. Gosh! Btw, Gil is now in showbiz. He’s been guesting for some TV sitcoms. Eh?!

I just heard on the radio that final top 11 list of senators. The twelfth position is still unsure since Comelec has yet to finish tallying the votes. Biason and Barbers, if I’m accurate, are the senatoriables vying for that position. Mar Roxas is without doubt still number one. He, along with Jamby Madrigal and Pia Cayetano, made the list. They all have such catchy tunes. My brother even mentioned that critics say Roxas campaigned like a presidentiable. It’s a great possibility that he might win if he was running for president. I still think his position right now has something to do with his “Mr. Palengke” label and Korina Sanchez. Filipinos are such suckers for romance. Well, I myself admit to that. Lito Lapit, Bong Revilla, and Jinggoy Estrada are also in the top 11. My Filipino teacher commented that if Philip Salvador also ran and won, we would have the 4 “Princes” of action flicks in the senate. Gosh! Actors in politics; politicians in the acting world…

Yeah, that’s why I’m so indifferent to politics. It’s uber depressing to think about.

“Ep Pee Gee! Ep Pee Gee!” These were the words I heard on the radio one day. I kept wondering what the hell they mean when the newscaster says that they were yelling FPJ’s name. It was funny and weird at the same time.

Anyways, I don’t wanna vote. Why? Because for me it is a waste of time. (Hey, I’m entitled to my own opinions.) What I’m trying to say is that everytime people vote for a president and they don’t like him or her after a few years, BAM! Impeached. If every single president is bound to be kicked out of the office via impeachment, then why the heck should I still vote? Why not just let people draw lots and if they hate the person, impeach! (That’s a joke ok?) Just wanna say that I feel pointless casting a vote.

    This is the unpolitical me.
