Dynamic Day
First day of summer for me and I got dragged to help out at our store.
*sigh* At least I’ve done something productive - balanced the sheets, checked our invoices, encoded the checks, inspected the stocks. Oh yeah, I just learned through the “office gossip vine” that my brother is going out again with his ex-fiance. Yap, ex-fiance since they broke off their wedding exactly one week before their ting-hwun (Chinese engagement party). My brother fell out of love, or so he said. But they’ve been on and off again for almost two years now. This weekend they’re even going to Caylabne (a breach resort) with another couple. Eh?! I really don’t think their relationship is healthy. I mean, he’s already 27! Time to get settled down if it were up to me.
About 7:30pm, hunbun and I went to Makati Shangri-La for Annika’s debut rehearsal. She said to be there at 8pm sharp. Well, I got there on time but nobody else did.
Since hunbun and I hadn’t had dinner yet, we opted to go to Glorietta (just in front of Makati Shang) for a nice meal. It’s been so long since I’ve been there. And guess what? We just figured out why it was bumper-to-bumper along Makati. There was a midnight madness sale mallwide! I just couldn’t resist shopping but I don’t think I was in my “shopaholic zone” then since I didn’t buy a thing. Yup, zilch! That is so unlike me! Hunbun is actually forcing me to shop for once. He said to take advantage of the marked-down prices. Well, if you’re not in the mood, you’re not right? I wanted to buy a really nice pair of sexy sandals, but none caught my eye. I was also hunting for a moderately-priced but really pretty gown. Sadly enough, the ones I liked were P9,000++. Gosh! Oh well…
I think my dah-ling (
inside joke!) gets kind of aggitated with so many people around. Glorietta was jam-packed full of shoppers! We, rather I, kept squeezing through the crowd just to get through. Hunbun so hates it when he gets left behind. *hehe* Oh, all the restaurants were full! There were lines and lines of people at every counter. It was almot 9pm when we finally found a restaurant that we liked and had free seats. Probably because most of the people already finished their dinner. We ate at the Spaghetti Factory. I ordered my fave Cream of Italian Mushroom Soup served in a bread bowl. I just love that concept! The soup itself was not that great though. I still prefer Jack Loft’s!
*yum* Hunbun had ribs which were extremely tough and hard to chew. *aw…* It’s a good thing I ordered the one of the house specialties: carbonara. I can honestly say it’s good!
It was already 10pm when we got back to Makati Shang Ballroom B. And the 18candles already finished rehearsing. *lol* My friends told me all they did was line up and walk anyway. No worries. Remember that I, together with Cats and Sharky, had a speech to make at the debut itself? They already made 90% of our script. Eep… I feel embarassed not having helped out much more. Just hope our little dialogue goes well, and makes Annika smile.
When we’re about to leave, we bumped into a couple of long-lost friends. I saw Michelle, my sister-in-law’s cousin and my Tagaytay buddy. She was actually there on a school project. She’s majoring in HRIM at CSB. Same as Lizbeth but one batch higher. Their project is to make a report on Makati Shangri-La’s bar. What a cool project. *hehe* It just happens that her blockmate Rory is hunbun’s high school classmate. (Did I spell his name right?) A somewhat mini reunion for all of us. I just remembered, we also saw her. She who must not be named. (Real-life female version of Tom Riddle in Harry Potter) Everyone recognizes her now since she’s been on a famous TV commercial & magazine covers. Eep, must not say more. Hunbun commented on her incredibly heavy make-up. He said that she must feel that her own face is no longer adequate to have that much make-up on.
We revived our old “chant”, so to say. What is the sound of a hammer? Pok-pok. (Repeat as much as you want) Pok-pok is a Filipino term for prostitutes. Thinking about it, I kind of forgot what exactly we dislike about her. Hate is such a strong word.
While waiting for the driver to pick us up, hunbun was suddenly hit by the dancing bug. He was shaking my hips, twirling me around like a doll. He is sooo cute!
He must be reminiscing our debut performance yet again. Hm… just the wrong place to be dancing. We’re still in Makati Shang’s lobby you know! I kind of hinted, well hinted a lot, that I want to go dancing. Well, I know he’s not the type to hang out at places with lots of people - neither am I. Nothing wrong with new experiences right?
