Under the Weather

Last Friday, hunbun noticed a pregnant woman around the Ateneo campus. He thought she was a parent but he looked closely and saw that she’s a student like us. And he recognized her as being one of my friends’ blockmates. *shocked* He told me afterwards and I couldn’t believe it so we kind of followed her. Well, coincidentally, we were headed for the same building she was. Everybody was looking at her discreetly. And probably making different assumptions why she got pregnant and how she is going to continue her life. Gosh, what a gossip-loving bunch we are! Seeing her in that condition just strengthens my belief to wait until marriage. I definitely don’t want to be in her shoes. At this stage in my life, I’m concentrating on finishing college first before I start a family. I’m not ready to take on that much responsibility. It really made me think if I’d be pro-life or pro-choice if I was her.

While eating dinner that day, I accidentally bit my tongue. And I bit it so hard that my tongue bled profusely. My dentist just told me my teeth are more pointed than most because they didn’t grind properly. I remember an old wives’ tale that says you bite your tongue because someone is thinking about you. I wonder who thought about me that hard because upto now, there’s still a little scar at the tip of my tongue. *sigh*

Yesterday, I woke up feeling really sick - sore throat, runny nose, head ache. It’s really not a good time to be sickly because it’s hell month! The final examinations are in two weeks already and most projects are due soon. My concentration level is really low and I feel sleepy all the time. Especially math, my mind can’t analyze all the symbols properly. My mom’s sore throat remedy is quite effective. She blows this Chinese throat powder straight into the back of my mouth. It feels really scratchy at first but the minty herbs take effect fast. And thank you to my hunbun for taking care of me. Just hope you won’t catch this virus.

Today, my nose is much redder because my nose just won’t stop running. It’s getting more and more difficult to breathe normally. Anyway, we (mom, brother, my brother’s boyfriend, me, and hunbun) went to a mid-autumn dice game sponsored by my mom’s high school association. :bleh: My brother took us to Fishing Village first before he picked up his girlfriend at Greenbelt. I found it odd that the board of officers took the opportunity to hold an election before the game itself so instead of starting at 4pm, the game proper started at 6pm. *lol* At that time, my brother still hasn’t returned so hunbun and I each took two turns at different tables. Yay! For each round, I get to throw the dice twice! I was lucky because I won Php100 in my very first dice alone for getting a four-of-a-kind, and I won four other Php100 for getting the same set of dice. I also won food prizes such as cookies, pretzels, mango nectar, and fruit cocktails. Hunbun hoarded most of the fruit cocktail cans at his table. He won 6 of them! *lol* He just kept on winning that prize. Hm… it was a shame that when I finally got 3 fours and 3 sixes which was equivalent to Php400, there were no more prizes left. *awww* But we had so much fun. And I enjoy winning stuff. I hope we have more dice games!

And get well soon to myself.

Scripture Theme

Yay! I finally made a new theme. It’s all done in neutral hues. It’s simple and very lady-like. Thank you to Stock Exchange for the lovely graphic and Squidfingers for the background. Both edited using Adobe Photoshop CS by me. This is the first theme I made with Firefox as my primary browser so I’m sure its compatible for both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer users. Not sure with Opera and other browsers though. :bleh:

I’ve just been going over all of the layouts I made. Hm… The mood of my themes are so different from each other. Some are cutesy and very girly, others are more mature and simple. I love it how they seem to reflect what I feel. *lol* I wonder when and what my next inspiration will be.

Ups and Downs

I’d rather not post about school anymore. :bleh: The whole examinations one after the other thing just stressed me so much the past weeks. And yes, even more exams next week. *sigh* Well, I just wish I pass all of them. preferrably with flying colors. *lol* Here’s little tidbits of what’s been going on in the life of Gretch. (Yikes, referring to myself in third person is not a good sign. )

Mom went to Thailand with my brother and sister-in-law last week. She bought so many new clothes for me. *yay* About 8 blouses and 2 mini-skirts. She said that they were incredibly inexpensive. And the clothing design were very unique. Hm.. Still not sure if that uniqueness is good or not. :haha: But I’m glad my mom is really fashionable and allows me to wear minis. Actually, she advised me to wear them now or as soon as possible while my legs are still beautiful. *lol* In her teens, she had worn even shorter skirts! Well, Thailand is definitely the new shopping center of Asia because Hong Kong’s prices had risen incredibly the past few years. I really miss travelling to other countries!

Last September 7, I finally made the “Protagonist” status of 1200 posts in The Protag Forums. Yup, I’ve been posting like crazy because of the Protagonist Postagathon Contest which ended yesterday. The prize was a brand new original Sims 2. Well, I made 1043 posts from August 20 to yesterday. Quite an accomplishment. I came in second, too bad there’s no consolation prize. But I really enjoyed getting to know the other Protaggers. It was so much fun and hope we have another contest soon.

My neice had her Under the Sea birthday on September 5. Hunbun and I brought home two little fishies again. I named them Sashimi and Sukiyaki. Well, to match Sushi, the little fish we won from my nephew’s birthday months ago. They all look so cute together. I think my brother put in another fishie because the next day there were 4 of them. But when I got home from school on September 13, I saw Sushi floating lifelessly in the bowl. The maid said that he, along with another fishie, jumped from the bowl to the table a day before. When she put Sushi back in, he was already cold and pale. *sigh* I hope he swims again in heaven.

Hunbun and I have been splurging on food lately. Eating out really makes a bad day much better. We’ve eaten at Eyrie and UCC, and took out food from Cello and McDonalds. Yesterday night was my first time to eat at Red Crab. Oh wow, the blue marlin in honey bourbon sauce is so delicious. It’s heaven in your mouth. But all that dining out is expensive. We’d better cut out from our addiction soon or we’ll won’t have any money left.

Lastly, I’ve been using Mozilla Firefox more and more. I love the tabbed featuring function and the organized bookmarking system. It has Google already in its interface too. :bleh: I’ll be exploring this browser more and I’ll make sure that the next themes I make will look much better here.

Stressful Week

It’s been such a stressful week. Too much school work, too little time. I only got three hours of sleep on Wednesday because I had two major examinations scheduled on Thursday: Theology 121 and Math 21. Not to mention, both are really difficult. *sigh* I’m the type of person who needs to finish everything before going to sleep. I won’t be able to sleep soundly otherwise.

At least Friday was fun. :bleh: I got to catch up with some high school friends at lunch. Its amazing how we just pick up where we left off. We’re all still on the same wavelength. I miss high school. *hehe* There’s really a difference between the bonds forged way back then and now in college. Afterwards, hunbun and I went to my “gang grouping”. It’s the title of the weekly gathering for Kaingin. Dianne is our group leader. I’m happy that Jem and Steph decided to drop by and join our little session. It’s the first time for a long while that all four of us girls got together. We had a little module that aimed to get to know ourselves a little better. There were three basic questions: A character who you most want to be, who you least want to be, and most like you. As usual I came up with really nonsense answers while everyone else’s were meaningful and significant. Anyway, the character most like me is Heart Evangelista in the movie Tanging Ina. She played a spoiled brat there planning for her debut. Well, I do have that attitude sometimes - the youngest child syndrome. *lol* But I’m outgrowing it over time.

Afterwards, we went to Cello’s Doughnut and Dips along Katipunan for a snack. Everybody has been raving about that little restaurant. It’s my first time there. Their donuts are so heavenly. The dough is so soft and the sweetness is just right. The pillows are uber yummy too especially with the white chocolate with strawberry dip we bought. Oh, pillows are honey-glazed square-shaped little donuts. *happy sigh* Hunbun and I bought four more donuts to take home: sugar-coated, chocolate, chocnut, and oreo flavored.

This morning, hunbun and I volunteered to tutor public school kids again. But they were unsually hyper today. We had a hard time getting their attention, even games did not do the trick. I got a headache. After a few hours, the headache just got worse so I needed to sleep it off. I felt instantly refreshed after the nap. Of course, back to work again. I’m expecting next week to be much more hectic, meaning less sleep. This list does not even include all the extra-curriculars, meetings, and project defenses. Wish me luck!

  • Monday - CS project due midnight
  • Tuesday - Physics laboratory report due
  • Wednesday - PE101 long exam
