Birthday Weekend Plus
Wow, I finally have the time to post a new entry. Yay! The last few weeks have been really tiring and stressful. It was one project and midterm and long test after another. But thankfully I got some good grades. 
I got a perfect score in both my Physics and Math long exams. It’s the first time I got a 100/100 score in Math in college and I’m proud of myself. *hehe* Thank you guys for the very sweet and thoughtful birthday greetings. Much much love especially to Jeanette and Misa for their wonderful gifts. 
I love them!
I just turned 19 last January 30 but I don’t feel any different. They say that things change when you turn 20. I wonder if that’s true for me. 
Anyway, I had a wonderful “birthday weekend”. Hunbun went to so much trouble making it special. And he really did make it incredibly memorable. *awwww* On January 29, 2005, we went to Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City. It was our first time there together. We went to Venice Creations, our favorite jewelry store, to pick out little trinkets for me. Hunbun’s present was jewelry and I got to pick what I want. He got me a bracelet and an anklet. The bracelet is an Italian tri-color with sets of three joined hearts. The anklet has little heart and star charms. They’re so pretty!
That mall is a real shopper’s paradise because there were so many stores! So of course, I couldn’t resist shopping a little and I bought home new clothes. 
Afterwards, we Tokyo Tokyo for an inexpensive lunch. *hehe* That night we had dinner at The Master’s Wok, Podium with my family. My aunt chose the restaurant because it was her birthday that Saturday. For dessert, we went to Goodies and Sweets. Their chocolate decadence is so delicious! Hunbun stayed late at until 12 midnight at my house to be the very first one to wish me a happy birthday. Isn’t he such a sweetie?
On my birthday, I stayed at home doing homework. *sigh* There’s just not end to it. But hunbun suprised me with this gorgeous bouquet of roses! Flowers are a romantic way of saying I love you. <3 We then went to have mass at Mary the Queen Parish. I wanted to give thanks for the countless blessing He had showered upon me.
Hunbun and I went “photo happy” with my digicam. *lol* The first three were taken on the 29th while the last three were taken on the 30th. Notice both of us were wearing red. And how all the pictures have the same background.
The following Saturday, February 5, 2005, my Asian History class went on a field trip. It was a temple tour actually. “This activity aims to enlighten and enrich the students with regards to the existence and practice of some of the oldest religions in Asia. The tour is organized by Viajes Filipinas and will take the studens to several sites of worship within Metro manila. It is an opporunity for the students to broaden their horizons and appreciate the complexity and multiplicity of expressions of faith.” (The statements above were directly quoted from the waiver sheet our teacher gave us.) We went to:
- Blue Mosque, Taguig, Metro Manila
- Indian Sikh Temple, UN Avenue, Manila
- Philippine Kim Luan Temple (Taoist), Ermita, Manila
- Hindi Temple, Paco, Manila
All the worship sites except the Taoist one required everyone to cover their heads and take off their shoes. They explained that it was done as a sign of respect to their god(s). It was quite an interesting and educational experience. I’ve only been inside Buddhist temples and Catholic Churches. In the Sikh Temple, we even had to partake a peculiar mix of sweet food - a rough equivalent of the mana (bread of life) for Catholics I think. I was most familiar with the Taoist temple because it is exactly like the Buddhist ones. Some of my friends and I prayed and lit incense there. One of my high school friends even told me that he felt more Chinese doing that - how we knew the number of incense to light and the number of times to bow. *hehe* I admit I did feel more closer to my heritage after.
The bus ride was lots of fun. It was very reminiscent of high school field trips with lots of picture taking and card games. We stopped over at Robinson’s Place Manila for lunch after the first two worship sites. It was really funny because we got lost inside and even got left by the bus. All the food I just ate were burned by all the running just to find the bus location. After the whole trip, hunbun fetched me from school and we ate dinner at Eyrie.
Lastly, happy Chinese new year to everyone! Gong xi fa cai! Kong hei fat choy!

what a happy pair you two make! :) that’s a beautiful set of jewelry. as far as life changing when you turn a certain age, it’s not exactly something overnight. i noticed though that when i was 19, i had quite a bit of partying days.. when i was 20, i was studying abroad and learning more and more about being around people.

Hey there! Just in case I didn’t wish you a happy birthday, happy belated birthday!! Glad you had an awesome birthday filled with awesome gifts!! Congrats on getting a 100/100 on a math exam in college! I haven’t done that, and I will never will because I just took my last math course in my life last semester. Well, I don’t know if that is true or not about turning 20. It has only been a month that I am 20, and I don’t feel any different… or maybe it’s too soon to notice.
Those gifts you received for your birthday were soo nice! The roses look lovely.
