Canon Preparation (Part 2)

After Batangas Holy Week, I fasted for more than 10 hours to prepare for my Canon medical exam. On April 17, 2006, I went to Eastwood Cybermall by my lonesome self. I got all the tests done just fine. Then, I had lunch at Cafe Adriatico by myself. It’s my first time to eat in a restaurant all alone. My philosophy 101 teacher calls this the “art’s date”. *hehe* It’s a great thing that I love the breakfast-type food there! During that time, hunbun was getting my grades and registration form in Ateneo. But that kind of went down the drain since the proxy letter I gave him had the wrong details. Oh well! So I waited for hunbun in Eastwood and accompanied him to Tizers where he ate some fries. Afterwards, we went back to Ateneo to claim my school stuff. Actually, I found that late claiming was not bad at all. There were only a few people and the places assigned were all air-conditioned. :bleh: Oh, my grades were no where to be found so they had to reprint it again. *lol* My semestral and yearly QPI is 3.75! Yehey! This first honor is absolutely unexpected!

The next day, I went to register for my practicum. Hunbun came with me and treated me to lunch at QC. That afternoon, we went to Quiapo to claim my NBI clearance. Hay! I really don’t like it there… While we were still in Quiapo, we watched The Myth by Jacky Chan. I liked the movie! Very very good concept… *hehe* :haha:

April 19, 2006, was my last day before starting work. I made the most of it by spending it with hunbun and resting. We ordered merienda from Red Ribbon and had PT.

Batangas Holy Week

For this year’s Holy Week, we went to Batangas. I went with mama, sahia, and hunbun. Lots of pictures in Memories  .

On April 14, we made our way to Batangas. We stopped over at Chowking Lipa for lunch. Then we headed to Blue Coral Resort. There were a lot of people taking their vacation there! *hehe* The place was small but nice enough. Our room was clean - with TV, DVD player, mini refrigerator, and aircon. Oh, the four of us stayed in one room only. :haha: We transferred all our things from the car and finally got settled around noon. It was way too hot at that time to swim just yet so we spent the afternoon playing tong-its. We got around to changing into our swimsuits, putting on a lot of sun block, and went to the beach around 6pm. Night swimming is fun especially when you have your own salbabida. It was nice to star gaze too… Dinner followed but I really don’t like the food they served. Then, we sang on the karaoke machine (Php5.00 per song) and watched The Longest Yard before going to sleep.

We all woke up really early the next day. Mom bought us all taho to eat as pre-breakfast. Hunbun and I swam a little bit while mom bought some pearls from the vendors there. At around 7 in the morning, hunbun and I rode the jet ski. It wasn’t as fun as I expected because the water was really choppy and we couldn’t go too far. I prefer the one in Subic better.

Lunch was really a let down at Blue Coral… We checked out shortly afterwards and switched to Laiya Coco Grove Resort. The lunch there was so much better - and so was the service! Well, Coco Grove was more expensive so that came with the price. :bleh: Our lodging there was atop a tree house and surprising comfortable. Around 4:30pm, a tour guide my mom knew fetched us from our room to bring us to their White Beach extension. We went there to ride the Flying Fox. It was incredibly hard to go up the tree but the ride was fun. I was scared but the ride was too short to really get freaked out. Besides, I rode it twice. Then, our tour guide took us on a mini jungle trekking. We crossed the rope bridge and helped each other out on the “tilting cooperative bridge”. It was fun since I rarely go adventuring. Hunbun and I then took a walk on the shore while mom dipped in the water. We took another jeep ride back to the main resort. Upon arriving, I quickly jumped on the trampulin. I felt like a kid! *haha* I like the feeling of being bounced around. After dinner, we all went for a night swim in the heated swimming pool. I almost drowned in the shallow water - trying to sit atop the floating device is not good. *lol*

April 16 was our last day of vacation. We started the day by going snorkling! The last time I went snorkling was way back in Boracay. I was hesitant at first to get into the ocean since I don’t know how to swim but I managed to get over my fear. My nice snorkling gear and life vest obviously helped. :bleh: We brought some food to lure the fishies and there were a lot of them. We all had a really nice time and we were all reluctant to get back on the boat. After lunch, we got ready to leave for Manila. But mom wanted to resort hop a little and check out other vacation spots. We toured La Luz Resort and the ambience there was really relaxing. Afterwards we finally drove back home. We stopped over Chowking again for merienda and I bought hunbun his favorite One Red Tea at a gas station. We had a nice dinner at Little Asia.

Still, nothing beats home sweet home.

Canon Preparation (Part 1)

On April 8, 2006, mom and I went to Chinese General Hospital but the doctor was away. *lol* We fetched hunbun and had lunch at Conti’s in Greenhills. The salmon and baked prawns were yummy - but not too yummy to keep going back to that restaurant. Although I want to try their pastries. We headed to Robinson’s Galleria to shop for clothes for my internship. I bought 3 Lee polos (I’m a Lee Girl! ), 1 FreeWay tankini, and 1 Wade shoes. Then, we went to McDonalds in Pasig because my cousin’s son is celebrating his 2 year-old birthday. It was a mini-reunion for my mother’s side relatives.

On April 10, 2006, I called Canon early morning to finalize my decision. I talked it over with hunbun and my mom and opted for the Contractual Employee deal. *hmmm* I went to downtown to get my Social Security System Number and National Bureau of Investigation Clearance. One of our secretaries accompanied me to get an SSS but the whole system was offline so I couldn’t apply for one. Good thing they allowed proxies. We walked a long way to get to an NBI location. It was an incredibly horrid experience. There were so many people, to the point where you feel suffocated. People were lining up everywhere and the sad thing is that they didn’t even know what they were lining up for. I had to return to claim my clearance again. *ugh* I will never do that again if I can help it. I got a bad headache from all that.

The next day I returned to Chinese General Hospital to get my thyroid checked out. Mom and I waited for quite a while before we were entertained. The doctor did not find anything wrong thankfully. She just said that I was stressed. Well, that was very true. Oh, why did I go to the doctor? For three days the week before, I kept throwing up because I couldn’t breathe after I ate. Ted the PT said that maybe it had something to do with my thyroid gland. The doctor did give me some anti-regurgitation pills though.

We went home to eat then headed to Eastwood for my Canon medical exam. I called before hand to ask if I need to fast but the attendant said no. *sigh* But the doctors there said that it was S.O.P. to fast so I had to return since I have my period anyways.

Hunbun also got a new haircut that day. It’s okay I guess, I just really dislike any change. That night he fetched me because it was his brother’s birthday celebration. We went to have buffet dinner at Heat in EDSA Shangri-La Hotel. They have bread pudding there! My favorite! Too bad I couldn’t have special ice cream because I was sickly.

On April 12, 2006, hunbun and I went to The Podium to have my Canon 45mm x 45mm ID picture taken. Hunbun had a late lunch at Pinoy Don and of course, I joined him. They served the garlic mushroom pasta which I liked. *hehe* And that night, hunbun brought me home take-out taro from Emerald Garden!

ASPC and Intership Hunt

From March 27, 2006 to April 7, 2006 was the Ateneo Summer Programming Camp (ASPC). The organizers are: Neill, Elijah, Gretch, Steph, Mic, Kenny. This 2-week camp serves as our practicum. We taught high school students JAVA programming and problem solving. It was a great experience for all of us and we had a great time with our campers. The pictures below were taken on the last day.

March 27, 2006 was the first day of ASPC. We had prepared a lot of activities for the campers and of course, a lot of getting-to-know-you games. I had an interview at BlogStar that afternoon. MDi has a very nice building and my interviewer Mich was nice too. All in all, it went very well especially since we were laughing throughout the interview. I actually had fun but I’m not sure I like the job description very much.

The next day, I went to Eastwood because I had a test at Canon. It was a very time-limited test and I felt I didn’t do so well. *hehe* Hunbun and I had a very late lunch at Jack’s Loft. I love their mushroom soup and salpicao. :bleh: But I’ll never eat “I Declaire” again… Also, I got the news that CompSAt is finally accredited! Yehey!!!

On March 29, 2006, hunbun and I went to PowerPlant after the daily ASPC planning session. First we bought some pork floss from Break Talk. *yummm* Then, we went to Dencio’s. I was officiating my first EB meeting there. Everyone was present and we managed to discuss a lot of stuff. It was a very productive power dinner.
