Finals and Hunbun’s Graduation

March 20-25, 2006 was my 3 BS CS second semester’s finals week. Obviously, that meant a lot of stress. *hehe*

On March 20, 2006, I got the news that I got B+ exemption for CS161. I’m the only one in the batch. Nice! The next day, hunbun and I ate lunch at Heaven and Eggs. I love their waffles, mashed potatoes, and pancakes… But note to self, never eat Asian food there ever again.

March 24, 2006 was a day of defenses for me. First was Electronic Publishing, then CS23. Both went well. I think I got an A for both. I then went home to prepare for hunbun’s graduation that night. Hunbun’s finally entering the real world. I will really miss him in Ateneo… especially since we saw each other every day. *mwah*

I fetched Dianne on my way to the Ateneo High School Covered Courts. We had a good time albeit the ceremony was boring since there were a lot of graduates. We talked about a lot of things and I learned how much I miss our girly gossip. We strolled a little around the park area and had a mini photo-op.

After the graduation, I finally saw hunbun. I had a hard time looking for him among all the people. He looked really really good in his toga. We then lined up for picture taking with his parents. We ate at Circles Event Café in Makati Shangri-La to celebrate.

On March 25, 2006, hunbun and I went to Greenhills. We had dinner at Teriyaki Boy where we met Cym and her date. *lol* We watched V for Vendetta. I loved the movie! It was so much better than what I expected! It was philosophical, deep, and all around great! “Remember, remember the 5th of November.”

End of Semester

I missed all my classes on February 21, 2006. I entered UE’s Inter School Web Design Competition and it lasted the whole day. Joining the contest was actually a split-second decision and I only confirmed the day before. *lol* I felt excited but anxious especially since I’ve never taken any formal web design training. My partner was Diane Gonzales. We had discussed the night before on how we were going to approach the theme of “Scaling Heights Through ICT Education”. We made a preliminary blue and orange airplane design - geared specifically towards children. We did pushed through with that with the 4-hour time limit given to us. The one computer provided to us was quite lacking in my perspective. We encountered some major problems along the way… That is why I was extremely shocked when we won the second place. It was a good kind of shock though and I felt very accomplished. We were awarded medals and some freebies. The pictures below were taken by our coach, Doc Mana.

Awarding Ceremony

On February 24, 2006, Philippines was under a state of emergency. We had no classes that day. Good thing that the WWE Raw Live Tour still pushed through. Hunbun and I parked at Gateway Mall and met up with Bill and his date. Sahia was supposed to come with us but he backet out. We brought some yummy bread at Bread Talk but we sadly we couldn’t bring them inside Araneta Coliseum (The Big Dome). We had good seats, much nearer than we though. Hunbun was right about paying for the wrestler’s entrance. :bleh: It was a good show and the audience’s hype was infectious. I’m going to let hunbun blog about the show itself in Inseparable though. We then ate dinner at Burgoo. I was not in a good mood because of unexpected problems with CS154 make-up lab.

I spent the entire next day working on the CS161 Process Control Block project with my groupmates Steph, Allan, Neill, and Elijah. We programmed until midnight. *sigh* (Off-topic) On February 27, 2006, hunbun and I ordered Yellow Cab for merienda. On March 1, 2006, hunbun surprised me with McDonalds’s Hello Kitty Eggs to complete my collection. They’re so cute!

Work and Love

On February 4, 2006, some of my blockmates and I went to PLDT-Smart Student Camp. The theme was “Passport to the World of Innovation”. I had a hard time deciding what “smart casual” attire to wear especially since I had next to none - okay, I just felt like I had none. Marge, Steph, Athens, and I met up at school to ride the shuttle. We arrived at SM Megamall early so we had to walk 5 flights of stairs. I was so breathless when we got to the Convergence Center. That is how bad a shape I’m in. *sigh* We all had free McDonald’s food. The organizers presented the new Smart 3G which I would love to have. It’s so expensive though. :bleh: Then, we were separated into groups for an Amazing Race type of game. I got a chance to reconnect with my old high school friends Shal, Dall, and Roy. We had to answer a lot of weird questions - most of which, we got from googling. We even had to memorize and recite (grade school style) some absurd facts. All these for stamps for our “passports”. But guess what? We won! *lol* It was quite a shock and I got a free Addict Mobile sim card which I gave to hunbun. After the game, we had a chance to roam the mall. They all tagged along with me and my shoe-searching goal. After an hour we went back to the venue to check our interview time slots - which was the screening process deciding who got into the OJT program. I got interviewed by Smart at around 2:20 in the afternoon. All in all, the event was really a good experience and it was well put together. I’m glad I went even though I had to reschedule my oral exam.

Hunbun picked me up and we went to school since he had something to get. We went back to SM Megamall again because I still had to shop for some “corporate-ish” wardrobe. I bought a really pretty pair of black pumps which I find really hard to wear. The sacrifices you do for vanity. *hehe* I bought a wonderful pair of pants from Tango - it’s not as expensive as I thought. Hunbun and I had dinner at Cavana which I would so not recommend! I’m never eating there again…

On February 8, 2006, I went to Makati for my Smart interview. It went much better than expected. Although, I received some bad news that day. I didn’t get the P&G SEA and got a poor grade in my philosophy orals. I don’t take bad news well.

I spent the next night slaving over Electronic Publishing midterms. My teacher scheduled it at 8:30 forcing me to cut my class at that time. I think it’s my first cut ever. The exam was incredibly hard. Anyway, I already got the results. Everyone did badly but I still got the highest score - so maybe my teacher will curve the grade. *cross fingers* I spent the rest of the day at the rose sale booth.

Rose Sale Sweeties

At around 5pm, hunbun and I went to Honor’s Assembly 2006 entitled “Honor’s Box Office”. It was held at Henry Lee Irwin Theater. Mom came to see me get my Dean’s List certificates. Before the program proper, all the honor students had to wait for an incredibly long time in the grade school cafeteria. Then I had the good luck of seating in a monobloc chair rather than the comfortable cushioned seats. *boo* After some inspiring speeches and lots of impatience from me, it was finally our turn to go on stage. Yay for 2 First Honors! Mom gave me the permission of using my credit card to charge a nice dinner with hunbun. We ate at UCC. It was really nice but my tummy suddenly ached to the point where my face turned white. So hunbun rushed me home.

Mommy and Me Bunnie and Me

Hunbun and I spent the next two days (February 11-12, 2006) attending Youth UNITED Conference entitled “Forge Your Future: On Capital Formation, Financial Markets, Entrepreneurship, and Investment Opportunities”. It was money well spent and I learned a lot about the power of my money. We’ll be investing in some mutual funds specifically balanced funds soon. On Sunday afternoon, we went to Gateway then to Greenhills to buy some long sleeves for me.

On February 13-14, 2006, I was uber busy with Celadon Valentines Rose Sale. It was so stressful but I’m glad to be able to work with capable people. Our project was a success. Here’s a sample of our flower arranging work. Pretty!

Rose Sale Roses

Of course, hunbun and I celebrated Valentines 2006. Actually, hunbun gave me a single rose in the morning then I kept asking him where my dozen bouquet was. I finally received it when we got home. *hehe* We had a dinner date at Red, Makati Shangri-La Hotel. It was really nice dressing up. I miss going to formal events. Everything was beautiful… Click the link for pictures.

On February 17, 2006, I had a CS154 group meeting at JV’s house. Then I visited bunnie at his house. We had a misunderstanding again out of nothing. *sigh* At least we kissed and made up. *hehe*

20th Birthday!

I was incredibly busy during January 23-27, 2006 since it’s Ateneo de Manila University’s Job Fair Week. That meant updating my resume, getting transcripts and endorsement letters, filling up application forms and supplemental data sheets. In addition, I had a lot of academics and extra-curriculars to attend to. Oh, on the 23rd I took the Procter & Gamble test which I found challenging to say the least.

The night of the January 27, 2006, mama, sahia, hunbun, and I had an imprompty dinner as an early celebration of my birthday. We ate at Bizu! I absolutely love everything there from bread to its spreads, soup, salad, and of course, the main entree. Yum! And I got two free macaroons as a pre-birthday freebie.

Hunbun and I spent the next day working on our individual 12-page newsletter Adobe InDesign project for Electronic Publishing class. I got a perfect score on it so all that hard work paid off. Anyway, that night we had separate dinners to attend. Ahia treated me to Crown Hotel as his birthday celebration. The restaurant was really nice, as well as the food. I especially loved the chocolate fountain though. *hehe*

Ahia’s Birthday

My 20th birthday finally came on a Monday - January 30, 2006. Hunbun was really really sweet! He surprised me with Bizu chocolate cake, lovely miniature bouquet of roses, and balloons within balloons. *lol* He even had my friends involved - special hugs to Steph. I was really surprised and touched. Thank you to everyone who greeted me and made my day even happier. (Hm… I actually had a midterm exam that night. Great timing, huh!)
