One faithful day, the skies parted and an angel descended from heaven. Though without wings, she can spellbind the hearts of one and all. Her enigmatic gaze and engaging smile enchants everyone. She had both the young and the old in the palms of her little hands.
Born as the youngest of five siblings, she was the princess of the family. Her cheerful disposition and good-natured personality earned her the nickname Cherub. Why Cherub? Why not? Cherubs are tiny, adorable, winged creatures who are blessed with virtue and goodness. Like them, she is eternally chaste and her innocence, forever untainted.
Who is this heaven-sent spirit? She is of course none other than I, Gretch S. (See, my name even sounds like the word “angel”.) For seventeen fruitful years, I had lived in this haven called Earth. Although I have had my share of trials, I still consider myself extremely blessed because of the constant guidance of the Almighty Father, the support of my close-knit family, and especially the love of my awe-inspiring soul mate. They are the stars that bring sparkle and joy into my life. They give me the strength and the courage I need to triumph over all the tribulations that may come my way. Because of them, I find the reason to dream and to reach for the castle in the sky.
Though angels are portraits of happiness and serenity, there are times when they too cry. They cry tears of memories that will never die. At the tender age of twelve, a tragedy had befallen upon my family. The stronghold of our lives, the pillar of our souls, my father passed away. Those times seemed hopelessly beyond belief. Absolutely no words could ever describe the pain. Constant prayer, time and dedicated faith in God helped my tears stop flowing. Now, I trust that death is not the end, but instead a new beginning.
Let me share with you something very dear to me. This piece is held fondly in my heart first and foremost because this was written as my high school yearbook’s write-up. Secondly, this was written with love from my best friend. Though it may appear short and sweet, I believe that this entirely embodies every aspect of my being.
A sprinkle of sweetness, a dash of daintiness, a cup of cuteness, add a pair of angel wings and you have Gretch! Best known for her beauty and brains, this young girl is blessed with an enchanting personality. Because of her compassion and warmth, she easily captures the hearts of many. She also captivates countless people with her charming little voice and her sheer adorableness. Always cheerful and cherubic, Gretch never fails to make you smile!
