An essay for the future based on a self-made collage :)
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. In the deepest and most intimate part of our souls, I believe that every one of us envisions himself fulfilling his most coveted wishes and desires. Though we may not fully know about the events yet to occur, we need to make the best of all the opportunities we have today. As William Shakespeare once wrote, “It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” Whatever we make of each day, whether we achieve, succeed or fail, all these will pave the path of our tomorrow.
The future, for me, is a sea of hope with endless and infinite potentials. Like the rushing of waves in the ocean, there are vast and boundless possibilities yet to be discovered. I have so many plans and aspirations to attain. Upon reaching the age of twenty-six, that is ten years from now, I foresee myself being an Atenean alumna, graduated with honors from a computer-related course. I also perceive myself pursuing a masters degree. By then, I would be newly wedded to the love of my life, to my childhood sweetheart and my soul mate.
This heart-shaped locket of mine reminds me of countless fond memories. Together with the lovely key, they provide the passage to all the mementos I have kept secret as a little girl. This idea was inspired by the authentic heart-shaped lock with matching key of my diary. All throughout these years, I have faithfully and wholeheartedly written entries in my hardbound, cherry-pink colored journal. Here I have shared all the happiness, delights, hardships, sadness and sorrows I have experienced throughout the course of my existence. This lock and key symbolized my journeys as a child, and it will continue to embody the many voyages I have yet to undertake. I genuinely hope that I would be able to continue this habit and maybe, even pass it on to my children.
Just like the sweetest of all dreams, my future begins with a saga. It will seemingly be a whimsical tale filled with wondrous escapades and momentous experiences. The story unfolds with perfection and concludes with nothing less than a happily ever after. I picture my future with a heart filled with optimism. I yearn for a life so perfect and so sweet that it will take my breath away. I know that, of course, in order to realize this hope of mine, I need to overcome numerous challenges that may come my way. I also need to possess a spirited heart so that I could stay strong through the tough times.
One day, I wish that I could be able to look back and truthfully say that I have led a life filled with rich colors and unconditional love. I would be able to tell myself that this is the life I have been looking for.
